This unit describes the skills and knowledge to implement and maintain the work health and safety (WHS) management system for a site or work group. Personnel work in accordance with health and safety management policies, plans and procedures which incorporate all relevant aspects of WHS legislation and the codes, guidelines, regulations and Australian Standards that apply to the site.

This unit applies to environmental site coordinators, environmental managers and senior environmental officers working in all industry sectors who have access to a workplace manager and internal or external expert WHS advice.

No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Collect and analyse information to regularly evaluate WHS management system performance 
 
 
 
Provide regular reports about WHS performance, instances of potential and actual non-conformance and incidents and the actions taken in each case
